HARD TIMES
Barnes wrote and directed his adaptation of
Dicken's HARD TIMES with the distinguished cast of Alan Bates,
Bob Peck, Richard E. Grant, Bill Patterson, Harriet Walter and
Dilys Laye. It is now available on video around the world.
HARD TIMES was a TV-movie made for BBC Schools
which has a high reputation for convincing Britain's top writers,
directors and actors to make films for the "cause" of
educational excellence. The films are first shown on educational
channels and are part of the national school cirriculum.
The BBC Educational study guide will be
available at this site at a later date.
HARD TIMES was so celebrated that it received
the honour of being played on TV on Christmas Day in the prime
spot, after the Queen's speech.
It has been shown frequently on PBS in the USA;
including this past Christmas.
It's film premiere was in Los Angeles for the
City of Hope charity. The premiere was attended by film
personalities such as directors Irvin Kershner (The Empire
Strikes Back) and John Landis (The Blues Brothers, etc).
